Competition is a good thing, especially in the restaurant world. It brings out the best in products and services. The King West neighborhood (between Peter and Bathurst) has plenty of competition for anyone willing to spend $10-$15 for a decent meal. As much as I enjoy eating otoro and uni sushi (which I love dearly, by the way), izakaya is probably my favorite type of Japanese dining. After researching various sources, Ematei seems to be the most recommended place for izakaya in Toronto (although options are quite limited anyway).

No, I don’t mean it in the Sicilian way. But Zucca Trattoria, an Italian restaurant near the Yonge and Eglinton neighborhood, does produce one dish that is quite common in Sicily and is a star of their restaurant menu - the grilled whole fish.
